| This week at the Market |
Week of September 1st, 2010
Coming soon… our music coordinator and market volunteer extraordinaire, Bernie Stapleton, is working hard to build benches and to bring umbrellas to the market for a nice comfortable place to relax and enjoy fantastic live music in the company of friends. Thanks, Bernie!
We are at the peak of the season for all of the wonderful farm fresh produce that summer is known for and now is a great time to start preserving for the cold winter months. You’ll find mums to brighten your gardens too, including many varieties you may have never seen before!
This week enjoy the music of Derek Pederson from 4 to 6 pm. Visit the “Buy Local Corner” where you’ll find Jennifer Leonard Hahn of Artist by the Lake offering beautiful artwork with recycled materials and a natural, earthy feel, and Boy Scout Troop #159 of Our Lady Queen of Peace offering the West Milford Savings Card which will provide supporters the opportunity to enjoy special savings at 15 local merchants. The veggie of the week is kohlrabi. If you’ve always wondered what kohlrabi was and what on earth to do with it, now’s your chance to find out! Download information on this interesting vegetable, preparation tidbits and some recipes too from the Recipe/Veggie of the Week page of our website.
Fontanarosa's continues to work on resolving staff shortage issues and hopes to rejoin us soon.

| Vision of the West Milford Farmers Market |
The West Milford Farmers Market will build a stronger and more sustainable West Milford by creating a ‘one-stop’ opportunity for local residents and businesses to conveniently obtain and sell high quality locally grown and crafted products in a welcoming, informative and entertaining setting.
The West Milford Farmers Market will seek to be creative and innovative, but will at all times be guided by the following core principles:
- All products available at the market will be high quality and produced and/or crafted by the vendors themselves in order to maximize the economic, environmental and social benefit of the Market to the local community.
- West Milford vendors will be prioritized for available vendor spaces as they become available, but vendors outside the municipal boundary within a 75 mile radius of the Town will be permitted in the interest of providing a diversity of foodstuffs and goods to local residents.
- The Market will serve as a community social resource, by providing opportunities for enhanced social interaction through regular entertainment and educational programs; e.g., performances by local musicians, and free tabling space for local non-profit, non-partisan entities.
